AmeriCode is a small, woman-owned and operated DOB Third-Party Inspection Agency, established in 2006 by JoPatric Love. Comprised of a full team of qualified professionals; including International Code Council (ICC) certified building and trade inspectors, professional engineers, and permit expediters.  All inspectors undergo thoroughly vetting, approval and certification under DOB Third-Party Inspection Program, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations through ongoing training.  

AmeriCode was founded on the principals of providing exceptional customer service with unrivaled expertise.  We take pride in fostering "hands-on" relationships with our clients, thriving on out-of-the-box problem-solving essential for navigating Washington D.C.'s intricate building industry regulations.    

With the successful track record of over 2,000 projects in the greater DC area, AmeriCode has quickly established itself as an industry leader.

After accumulating over 30 years of experience in Construction Management, Design-Build, and Code Compliance across both public and private sectors, Ms. Love recognized the imperative for a company dedicated to bridging communication gaps between government agencies, municipalities, and project managers. This realization, coupled with her southern Texas values and charm, led to the establishment of AmeriCode. She takes pride in the company's ability to foster enduring relationships with clients.

Ms. Love is an active member of prestigious organizations, including the International Code Council (ICC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), DCRA Third Party Agency Advisory Board, and DC Building Industry Association (DCBIA). Additionally, she holds membership in the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), where she previously served as chapter president. Her contributions were further acknowledged by NAWIC, selecting her as a Delegate Ambassador representing U.S. women in the construction industry. Delegates traveled to South Africa to work with the international sister chapter, SAWIC, on low-income housing and community development practices. 

Known in the industry for her southern charm and exceptional problem-solving abilities, Ms. Love is the go-to person when individuals encounter challenges or need guidance in unfamiliar situations.  At AmeriCode, she provides oversight to the inspection program and manages permit expediting, bringing valuable project experience as a Code Compliance specialist for entities such as Prince William County Schools, Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, US Department of Transportation, Kennedy Warren Apartments, John Hopkins University, and Hay Adams Hotel.

As the Professional-in-Charge at AmeriCode, John Russell brings a wealth of expertise, holding an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Human Services and amassing over 25 years of experience in the inspection and code compliance industry. He is not only a Virginia building official and master code professional renowned for his thoroughness but is also distinguished for his excellent customer service. John's diverse background includes roles at Longwood University in Farmville, VA, where he served as a combination project inspector, and with the City of Alexandria Fire Department in a similar capacity.

John's inspection expertise is complemented by detailed mechanical experience gained while working at George Mason University as an HVAC technician and residential HVAC Contractor. As the owner and operator of John A. Russell Enterprise heating and air conditioning company, he acquired a profound understanding of HVAC systems, enhancing his ability to troubleshoot effectively. An active member of reputable associations, including the Virginia Building Code Officials Association (VBCOA), International Code Council (ICC), National Association of Amusement Ride and Safety and Operators (NAARS), and the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA).

John holds authorization as a Third-Party Combination residential and commercial inspector. In his role as the Professional-in-Charge, he provides valuable oversight for code compliance and project management. Conducting quarterly quality assurance reviews, John contributes significantly to maintaining AmeriCode's high standards. 

Dilraj is a master code professional with a Bachelor's degree from George Mason University and over 25 years of code inspection experience. He possesses a deep understanding of Washington, DC code inspections, having previously worked as a Third-Party Group manager and directly as a master combination inspector for DCRA (now DOB) and Fairfax County. Dilraj is highly recommended among his peers, showcasing an in-depth knowledge of the intricacies involved in code compliance. 

His diverse portfolio spans various sectors, including universities such as George Washington University, Virginia Tech, and the University of Maryland. Dilraj has conducted inspections in hospitals, for example, Georgetown Hospital, PG Regional Medical Center, and Children's National Hospital. His expertise extends to embassies, office buildings including D.C. Courts, apartment complexes, hotels including Citizen M Hotel, Thompson Navy Yard, and The Wharf’s Intercontinental, as well as restaurants and retail stores including Starbucks, Tiffany's, Wawa, and various other establishments.

What sets Dilraj apart is not only his extensive code knowledge but also his unique insight into construction. As the owner and manager of a home construction firm, he has designed and built multi-million-dollar luxury homes in the DC Metro area. This hands-on involvement provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the construction process from start to finish. Utilizing this background, he is able to effectively communicate and train project managers on-site, enhancing their code understanding and empowering them to integrate processes that will ultimately lead to higher inspection approval rates.

 Jennifer Sheller, AmeriCode's Operations Manager, holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, where she showcased her teamwork skills and strong work ethic as a member of their Division I Field Hockey team. With over a decade of expertise, Jennifer specializes in optimizing efficiency and productivity for businesses. Her entrepreneurial journey includes successfully founding and managing ventures, such as a non-profit, a startup restaurant in Hawaii, and a professional concierge company, highlighting her prowess in operations management, client relationship building, and project management.

Jennifer has been an integral part of AmeriCode for over 5 years, serving as the operations manager. Her role encompasses leading the inspection department, managing accounting, quality assurance, and marketing. When it comes to inspections, Jennifer takes the lead in initiating new projects, managing, scheduling, and providing assistance with questions and problem-solving. Having navigated the 2023 transition from DOB to tertius, she is well-equipped to guide you through the online system.
